What to Expect

Your First Visit,
Step by Step

01
What to Bring

Please bring a valid photo ID. If you've had X-rays taken recently at another practice, bring those too — or ask your previous provider to forward them to our office before your appointment. It saves time and gives Dr. Walker a fuller picture from the start.

02
Your Comprehensive Examination

During your first exam, we will take digital X-rays of each tooth and intraoral photographs of your entire mouth. By the end of this visit, you'll have a clear, complete picture of your dental health — and a roadmap for what comes next.

03
Your Dental Cleaning

A routine cleaning is ideal, but sometimes a deeper clean is what your mouth truly needs. Dr. Walker will examine everything thoroughly and recommend the type of cleaning that's right for you — not a one-size-fits-all approach.

04
Your Personal Treatment Plan

Using everything gathered in your exam, Dr. Walker will create a customized treatment plan — your personal path to dental wellness. Think of it as a roadmap she'll guide you through, answering every question along the way.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you want to know before your visit — answered clearly and honestly. Have something not covered here? Call us anytime at (404) 446-2776.

What can I do to make my dental experience faster and easier?

The best thing you can do is call ahead so our team can set up your profile and send your forms before your visit. Familiarize yourself with your appointment confirmation email and complete all forms ahead of time. If you have any questions or concerns, call or email us before your appointment — we’re happy to walk you through anything.

What time should I arrive for my first appointment?

We pride ourselves on being efficient with your time and ours. We ask new patients to arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled appointment to take care of any last-minute items while still maintaining your appointment time. If you’ve completed your forms in advance, this will be a smooth, quick check-in.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Please bring a valid photo ID and your insurance card (if applicable). If you have recent dental X-rays from a previous provider, bring those along or ask your prior dentist to forward them — it gives Dr. Walker a fuller picture from day one and saves time. You do not need to print your patient forms if you completed them digitally.

Is my personal information safe?

Yes. Our patient management system is HIPAA-compliant and has robust security measures in place to ensure your information is protected. We take patient privacy seriously. For more information, please review our Privacy Policy.

How long will my first appointment last?

Your first visit typically lasts about one hour. This gives us ample time for X-rays, a comprehensive examination, and a conversation about your personalized dental plan. If time allows, we’ll complete your cleaning during the same visit. We encourage you to complete all paperwork in advance so the full hour is dedicated to your care.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, we work with most major dental insurance plans. Please bring your insurance card to your appointment and we’ll verify your benefits. Our team will help you understand your coverage and any out-of-pocket costs before treatment begins. For patients without insurance, we offer flexible financing through Sunbit and CareCredit.

Do you offer emergency dental appointments?

Yes. We reserve same-day emergency appointment slots every single day. If you are in acute pain, call us first thing in the morning at (404) 446-2776 and we will get you in the same day whenever possible.

What financing options are available?

We offer two flexible financing options: Sunbit (our preferred partner — apply in minutes at apply.sunbit.com/betterhealthdental, no hard credit check) and CareCredit for existing cardholders. Learn more on our Financing page.
